Reflections | October 2015

October just about wraps up senior portraits, so I didn't have much time for personal work this month. Here is a gorgeous scene that represents fall color at it's finest in the Pacific Northwest.

Fall Family Session | Boyd Family

I recently had the pleasure of photographing these adorable siblings and their parents for a fall session.  It was misting when we started, but they were up for whatever came our way.  Fortunately the rain held off and we were able to capture these wonderful images.

Family session | Bellevue Family Photographer

The B. Family was visiting for Thanksgiving from California.  It was so good to see them and I'm so happy they took time out of their short trip to have a family photo session with me.

Photo of the Month - November 2013

Another edit from the a beauty portraiture session I did a while back.  I'll be choosing a favorite image from a past family or beauty session to edit in post production, the one I see in my mind at the time I am photographing.

Photo of the Month - October 2013

You may recall I posted a photograph of Snoqualmie Falls last winter when the walls along side of the falls were frozen.  This is a similar image, only it was taken a couple weeks ago around sunset.  It's interesting to see the same image taken throughout the seasons, you can see the warmth in this image below as compared to this frozen view taken back in January.

Every now and then I enjoy getting out and shooting personal work and one of the things I enjoy are shooting the same location throughout the four seasons.  Shooting personal work in between client's photography sessions gets me out into nature and I'm always location scouting, especially this time of year with the Fall colors.

Location scouting for Fall sessions | Bellevue Portrait Photographer

I've been location scouting this week for upcoming Fall sessions.  These photo sessions are magical, especially for children.  After I've captured a few posed family images, the kids play, toss the leaves, roll around and just have fun while I take several images, many in succession which tell a story and make beautiful canvas wall displays in your home.

Many families choose their holiday photos from their fall sessions, or snow sessions from the previous year.  If you are interested in booking a fall session before the leaves are gone, please contact me here.

Fall session | Bellevue Family Photographer

A few more images from this fall session.  Letting people just be who they are and interact with one another often presents story telling images.  I love this aspect of lifestyle photography.  Personalities come out, and the authentic character shines through.  These kind of images along with a few posed photos create a balance that my clients enjoy.

Fall Family Fun | Bellevue Portrait Photographer

Some sibling fun...

Miss M can hold her own with her brothers.  We had a great time taking these images on one of the last days of summer.  I cannot believe how much they've gown!  I've been taking their family pictures since the kids were babies and now the eldest son is driving!

They hold a very special place in my heart.  Love you guys!

Bellevue Photographer | November 2012 Photo of the Month

Once a month I try to photograph something for myself, a personal project.  I started out as a nature and wildlife photographer over 20 years ago and in 2007 started my portraiture business.  I find as much as I love photographing portraits of women and children, it helps to break away every now and then get out in the solitude of nature and shoot something for myself.  These are just a few of the mushrooms I found in my yard during the month of November.

Bellevue Portrait Photographer | Miss M. Session Favorites

Four locations and a pretty young lady up for anything!  We wanted to take in some of the gorgeous fall colors, a water backdrop and even a little retail and vintage fun.  She likes Justin Bieber (Shhhh...so do I!) We talk about our favorite colors, YouTube videos, clothes, school and sports. I really enjoyed our afternoon together talking and laughing.  I shared a hair trick from my old hairdressing days (eons ago,) which we practiced no less than thirty times and by the end of our session, she became a hair trick pro too!

Bellevue Photographer | October 2012 Photo of the Month

The beautiful fall colors make great backdrops for holiday family photos.  The rich hues of burgundy, orange and yellows with a splash of green add a lot of punch and texture this time of year.
