Dedication of the Five Stand Field in memory of David J. Funes

Sunday, August 16, 2009 was the dedication of the Five Stand Field in memory of my father, David J. Funes. The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious and seeing his old friends and listening to their stories was wonderful.

It was equally heartwarming to hear some of new shooters say that they wished they had the opportunity to meet him as a result of all those who did know him. It’s a real testament not only to the kind of friend my father was to others, but the quality of his friends; that all these years later they still uphold his memory in the shooting world.

On behalf of my family, we thank all of those who were able to make it to the dedication and for those who were not able to make it out on Sunday, just click on the slideshow below for the highlights.

If you would like to purchase a DVD, or a download of the slideshow for your iPod; all proceeds will be donated in memory of David J. Funes to assist the ongoing improvements of the five stand field. Just select the little DVD icon in the bottom right corner of the slideshow.

There is no obligation to purchase. You are welcome to bookmark this page and come back to watch the slideshow anytime you wish.

With gratitude,

Julia Brown

In the woods

Paul and I went up to the watershed today for another mini-session; one that I have had in my head and envisioned for months. I wanted to try some new techniques in an enviorment and backdrop that reflects him best--the outdoors.

Edit: Transform video by Zack Arias

Zack's video made the viral rounds a while back, but every now and then, on the dark, gloomy days I think about it... Failure is just NOT an option and I'm inspired to persevere.

Seafair Sunday and the Blue Angels!

Paul and I went over to Medina today to see if we could catch a glimpse of the Blue Angels air show. In year's past, we've decided (rather last minute) to head that direction and have just plain been lucky!

It's never too late to have the first dance...

Jack and Alison met in graduate school. They had an intimate family wedding in April 2008, which you can see here. This past weekend they celebrated their love with family and friends.

Favorite moment: "Our first dance."

How was the day different than you imagined: "It was over before I knew it! People said it would go quickly and to try to slow down and enjoy each moment....it’s really good advice....because it is over so fast and you really want to remember every detail."

Advice for other couples: "You will learn a lot about yourself through this process and if you slow down and listen to people’s advice, you will learn even more. Be open and have fun!! And get an event planner - they make ALL THE DIFFERENCE. We had very little stress thanks to our wonderful event planners!"

The day in three words: "Exciting, Fun, Heartwarming"

Event Planner/Coordinator: True Colors Events - Travis McBurney and Jesse Brix. This was my first time working with Travis and Jesse and they were fabulous! They made my job as the photographer go smoothly.

The Dress: Alison’s dress was made by ‘Sir’ and purchased at Juniper with the help of her good friend Lisa .

Invitations: All About Weddings - Gayle O’Donnell

Flowers: Miki’s Flowers - Miki Maxey

Location: Herban Feast/Sodo Park - Reese Rowe

Caterer: Herban Feast Catering - Reese Rowe
