Bellevue Lifestyle Photographer | Beautiful rim light
Light is the core of photography, but beautiful light is what photographer's wish for every session. I love these Lifestyle Portrait sessions! You're on track shooting and you turn away for a moment to change a lens only to look up see this gorgeous rim lighting! That is what happened here. I quickly changed my camera settings and seized the moment to capture beautiful Miss M.

Bellevue Photographer | June 2012 - Photo of the Month
Summertime...
Clients will sometimes ask, "What is lifestyle portraiture?" A Lifestyle session is a family, or individuals interacting casually with one another capturing candid moments and expressions. The image above illustrates Lifestyle Portraiture, just living life...

Bellevue Photographer | Wildlife abounds this week!
This is a great horned owl that was sitting on a limb in my neighbors tree. My neighbors know that I shot nature and wildlife for years before starting my lifestyle portraiture business in 2007 and that I missed him when he was in my yard and visible a few months back. They were kind enough to call me this morning and let me know the owl was back. I promptly grabbed my camera, threw on my rubber boots and headed outside in my jammies to get this shot.

Bellevue Photographer | Fawn
I am so blessed.... When I see something like this little one come past my window, I really want for nothing more in life, truly. It's so exciting and makes my day and I don't ever take it for granted how lucky I am to live in a place where wildlife passes by my office window on a regular basis. It's a photographers dream...

Bellevue Photographer | I haven't seen this guy since April 2008!
I haven't seen this guy since April 2008 when his antlers were just tiny little velvety bumps on the top of his head. He came through yesterday and he sure has grown into a majestic looking buck. Initially, I missed the shot of him walking past my office window and honestly, I was so struck by seeing him that I just followed him around watching, no camera in hand. I was just blown away by how big he is and then Finn wanted me to open the bathroom window so he could get a better look and it was then that I thought if I don't grab my camera and document this, I may never see him again!
The first shot was through the bathroom screen. Actually, the sound Finn made caused the buck to look right at me. I then decided to head outside and see if I could get a better picture and the next two are the resulting images, and then I caught Finn watching the whole thing.

Bellevue Portrait Photographer | Just for fun...
I attend a photography meetup a couple times a month and one
of the recent assignments was "Intentional Camera Movement." This type of photography is so contrary to
the final outcome I try to achieve as a portrait photographer. I could never have imagined how fun this could
be, or how inspired I'd be to see what the other members of the group shared.
Love it or hate it, it was a fun project that included everything from a camera toss, to zooming the lens while exposing the image, panning, swirling and swooshing the camera.

It got me thinking that I could really create some fun
backgrounds for high school senior portraits.
Of course, my style of
photography would cater to the blended much muted color backgrounds versus the abstracts.
All in all this was a challenging project that left me with a liberating
feeling to break the mold once in a while from the kind of shooting I do for
clients.
