A different perspective...

Perspective: The appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer.

I've had several people ask me if the eagle in the photo from the earlier post (see "Skagit River Eagles 12/23/07) is "a baby eagle?" Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

This is a mature eagle of great stature, which I tried to convey previously by posting the image of the Seagull patiently waiting in the background to feed. I didn't succeed at showing the perspective, so I'm posting another image of the eagle standing on his catch--without the Seagull. These are majestic birds, some with a four to five foot wingspan!

Skagit River Eagles

I've never seen Seagulls behave so submissive. The pecking order was obvious and the minute the Eagle finished snacking, the Seagull slipped in for leftovers, but when the Eagle was ready for more, he majestically swept in and the Seagull stepped aside.

Surveying the water below.

We counted 10 Eagles on these limbs! It was pouring and at times the visibitlity was poor. I got soaked taking these images, but it was exciting!
